The Foundation of the American College of Healthcare Executives established this scholarship in honor of Albert W. Dent who was the first African-American Fellow of ACHE.
This scholarship can be used for tuition costs, student loans, and expenses and it is offered annually.
The scholarship is worth $5,000.

It is good thing to know that the preference is given to applicants who are Student Associates of ACHE.
The Albert W. Dent Graduate Student Scholarship is only available to minority students, and whether you belong to this group can be determined if you take a look at the definition of minority created by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
Who's eligible?
Being that you are reading this, you are probably eager to apply for this scholarship, but do not know whether you are eigibel or not.
These are the eligibility requirements that have to be met so as to be accepted as a regular candidate.
You may apply for an Albert W. Dent Graduate Student Scholarship if you are a minority student enrolled full-time in a healthcare management graduate program – MHA, MPH, MBA in Healthcare Administration or similar.
You have to be entering your final year of full-time study.
If you have a residency as part of your program and the upcoming fall term will be your second year of study, you may apply for a scholarship.
However, if you have already completed your classroom work and are in the residency part of your program, you are not eligible to apply.
You are not required to be a Student Associate of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Furthermore, the eligibility requirements are that the applicant can demonstrate financial need, that he/she is a U.S. or Canadian citizen and is not a previous recipient of this scholarship or the Foster G. McGaw Graduate Student Scholarship.
How to Apply
The applicants are supposed to complete the online application and provide the current resume or curriculum vitae, official undergraduate and graduate transcripts, three letters of recommendation, an Application Essay in which they will be speaking about the reasons for pursuing a career in healthcare management and their financial need.
The application process starts on January 1st and ends on March 31st.
The winner will be informed by mail sometime in June.
