Aluminum extrusions are everywhere around us and we are contact with numerous products made better by aluminum extrusions.
That is the reason why Aluminum Extrusion Student Design Competition is available every year, with the aim to encourage students to offer innovative solutions to design challenges.
This is a unique competition and students should send their own designs that demonstrate the benefits of aluminum extrusion so as to be eligible for this award.
Full Description
This is a competition where winning designs will be those that best demonstrate the benefits of aluminum extrusions.
You can either invent a new product or improve an existing one and based on its usability and your creativity, you can win first, second or third place, and even get a Sustainable Design Category scholarship.
All prizes together reach $15,500 and are divided into:
1st place $5000, 2nd place $4000, 3rd place $3000 and Sustainable design Award $3500.
Who's eligible?
In order to be qualified for these awards, you have to be enrolled as a student in high school, college/university, technical school, or graduate school.
You should include a 3-D printed prototype of your component design in your application and the design must fit within no larger than a 10-inch circle size to be considered for an award.
Supporting material related to the design, utility and practicality is highly recommended to be submitted and the proper grammar and spelling is obligatory.
Make sure that designs are original and make use of at least one extruded aluminum component and multiple entries may be accepted.
The qualities which will be taken into consideration when determining the winner are:

- Practicality
- Product/Process Advantage
- Market Impact/Potential
How to Apply
In order to enter this competition, you must design a product that incorporates at least one extruded aluminum profile and you can apply either using the form which can be found in a brochure or you can download the official entry form at www.ETFdesign.org.
There are even certain tips on creating a potential winning design, so make sure to read them and provide all the necessary documentation.
Industry professionals will determine the winning designs and the award receivers will be announced in Spring.
