The Army Women’s Foundation know that women in need of financial aid for the educational purposes should be supported, as the education plays crucial role in their personal, professional and economic fulfillment.
So the organization offers scholarships to women soldiers, past and present, and their lineal descendants to help them achieve their educational goals.

The financial support in given in four areas: Certificate programs, Community College coursework, Undergraduate Degrees, and Graduate Degrees and the money can be used only for coursework from accredited institutions.
The recipient will be determined according to her merit, academic potential, community service, letters of recommendation, and need.
The Community College and Certificate Program Legacy Scholarship is $1,000, while the College, University, and Graduate Program Legacy Scholarship is $2,500.
Who's eligible?
If you are wondering whether you are eligible to apply for this scholarship, we are offering you the eligibility requirements you have to meet.
Firstly, you need to be a woman who has served or is serving honorably in the U.S. Army, U.S. Army Reserve, Army National Guard or the child of a woman who served honorably in the U.S. Army, U.S. Army Reserve or Army National Guard.
For each of the following scholarships there are different eligibility criteria.
If you want to apply for the Community College Legacy Scholarship, you have to be a high school graduate with a 2.5 Grade Point Average (GPA) or GED and must be currently enrolled in an accredited community college.
The Certificate Program Legacy Scholarship requires that the applicant must be a high school graduate with a 2.5 Grade Point Average (GPA) or GED and must be currently enrolled in accredited Certificate granting institution.
When the College and University Legacy Scholarships are in question, you have to be currently enrolled at an accredited college or university and have completed 30 credit hours of course work with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.
The Graduate Program Legacy Scholarships requires that the applicant has achieved an undergraduate degree with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and must be enrolled in or accepted into a Graduate level program — Masters or Doctoral.
How to Apply
If you meet the criteria, you should apply for the scholarship and here is the list of the required materials:
- Online Application
- Commander’s verification of active duty or qualified documentation of the sponsor or woman’s service
- An official transcript from their college or university
- Two letters of recommendation with titles and contact information written by a school advisor, counselor, dean of students or professor.
- A short essay in which you will speak about your future plans and how the Army has impacted your life.
