The Austin Alliance for Women in Media Scholarship offers one $5,000 scholarship which can be used for either undergraduate or graduate tuition and will be administered by the respective Financial Aid office of the recipient.
Austin is proud to offer this scholarship to college Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors studying media or a related field at a university in the Austin area.
Consideration will also be given to students who are attending other colleges but have graduated from an Austin area high school and maintain an Austin area permanent address.
Just like with any other scholarship, there are certain qualifications that the applicants must possess so as to be eligible for the award.
That way, the committee can easily make a decision who the most deserving candidate is.
The Austin Scholarship is open only to the eligible candidates and those are people who have completed 60+ hours of college course work but have not graduated.
They need to have an overall GPA of 3.25 or higher or a 3.0 or higher in declared major courses and to be currently enrolled as a full-time student who is pursuing a degree in radio, television, film, digital media, public relations, advertising, marketing, communications, journalism or broadcasting.
Furthermore, the current students with relevant college or professional media work experience who intend to pursue careers in media may also be considered eligible for the award and are suggested to apply.
Now, that you have determined that you are eligible for this award, you need to submit an application form so as to apply.
Also, you need to attach an official, signed transcript for all college work attempted and at least two letters of reference.
Letters of reference need to be from a college professor or advisor and one personal from an employer, friend, relative.
It is important that you sign the application and submit it before March 2nd.
Once the winner is determined, he/she will be notified by phone by March 31st.
You should know that the scholarship winner must attend The Trailblazer Awards Gala on April 30th at the Westin at the Domain in Austin, Texas.
