Established in 1999, the Barnes Scholarship aims to support above average high school seniors who are financially incapable to support their college education. This is a great opportunity for less fortunate kids as they will continue to receive the scholarship as long as they can maintain a good academic standing.
Full Description
4 winners will be selected, each of whom will receive $15,000 annually for the period of 4 years. This maybe used to pay for all the expenses in their chosen accredited college or university. Student must be enrolled full time to be eligible for the scholarship. Those who have overcome significant challenges in their lives are encouraged to apply.

These are the criteria that will be considered in order to qualify for the scholarship:
- You must be a current high school senior.
- You must live in Tampa Bay (Hernando, Pasco, Pinellas, Citrus or Hillsborough counties)
- You must have overcome significant obstacles in life.
- You must be a student with a GPA of 3.0 or better.
- You must aspire to attend college outside of Florida.
How to Apply
The application has 3 main parts:
Part I : The Application
We will be needing your basic information like:
- Address
- Phone Number
- Emails
- Test Scores
- High School information
- College/University of your choice (name at least 6 choices)
Part II : Your Resume
Your resume will reflect your overall credentials including your academic honors, extra curricular activities, athletics and employment awards which are the keys in forming your life experience.
Part III : An Essay
This is the most important part of your application. Here, you are going to state the greatest challenge that you had in your life and how you were able to overcome it. Try to give your best on this part by presenting your story really well. It also includes using the the write words, grammar, punctuation and syntax. Save the file so you can easily copy it on the proper section of the application.
Rest assured that all the information you will provide during the application will be kept confidential and will only be read by the members of the Time’s Fund scholarship selection committee.
