The Betty Flood Morrow Women’s Press Club Scholarship Program is awarded annually to applicants who demonstrate clear career goals, academic achievement, writing ability, and leadership skills.
The scholarship honors the Club’s late co-founder Betty Flood Morrow who was a lifelong and fierce advocate for women in journalism.
The award is given to one lucky recipient and the winner will get $1000 which will be paid to the recipient’s educational institution.
Who's eligible?
If you are interested in applying for the Betty Flood Morrow Women’s Press Club Scholarship, you will need to check the eligibility requirements first.
The committee has determined that the eligible applicants are those who are residents of the state of New York and who are enrolled in a college or university in New York.
Furthermore, students should be pursuing a degree related to communications.
Do not hesitate to apply for this award if you consider yourself eligible for it.
Ineligible applicants will not be taken into consideration.
How to Apply
Once the applicant determined that he/she is eligible, he/she needs to submit an application form together with a 500-word essay on the given topic.
Applications should be sent via email and must include all items required.
Once the application process starts, the applications will be available on the official website and will be accepted for the Betty Flood Morrow Women’s Press Club of New York State Scholarship.
Only completed applications will be taken into consideration and they must include the following:
- A completed Women’s Press Club of New York State Scholarship Application.
- A 500 words essay on the topic detailed in the Women’s Press Club of New York State Scholarship Application.
- Two letters of recommendation from faculty and/or employer.
- A copy of the applicant’s transcript.
- Resume which is optional.
The deadline for scholarship applications is August 1st.
The recipient will be awarded at the Club’s annual awards dinner in September.
