The CFJS Scholarships have the aim to help students studying jazz music and the great thing is that there are no age limits.
There are eligibility requirements that have to be met, and if you believe you are eligible, you are highly encouraged to apply for this amazing award.
Full Description
The scholarship amount is $2500 awarded to three most deserving applicants.
The money awarded may be used for school tuition or the purchase of musical equipment/repairs that are needed for educational purposes.
Awards are not given directly to the student, but the checks will be mailed to a school, individual or store where instruments, repairs or accessories have been purchased.
Also, the money can be used for private lessons, if the student needs them.
Who's eligible?
Central Florida Jazz Society Scholarship is designed for amateur jazz musicians who are high school seniors or students in the first 3 years of college.
They need to be eager to further their studies in jazz music so as to be considered eligible.
Plus, the applicants must be residents of or attend/plan to attend a college in Central Florida: Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Brevard or Volusia counties.
How to Apply
The part of the application process is the submission of audio or video containing 1 or 2 brief improvised choruses of 2 selections of different tempos.
You are supposed to send .mpg or .mp3 as attachments in an e-mail to greg_glennmillerproductions@yahoo.com .
In addition to the musical recording, a letter of recommendation must be submitted.
If you happen to be one of the ten selected students for final judging, you will be sent further instructions.
It is very important that your applications, audio/video auditions, and letters of recommendation are submitted before April 2nd.
A live audition at Rollins College is a requirement and scholarship auditions will be held on May 18th.
