The Connor Porter Memorial Scholarship was created in 2013 in honor of Connor Porter and his father Pat, who were excellent sportsmen well known for encouraging others not to give up and remain strong despite all the possible troubles.
The accident happened not long after Connor won a bronze medal in the Division III foil event at the Summer Nationals in Anaheim.
So, from that moment on, the foundation is offering scholarships for high school fencers, two awards of $2000 for a male and a female.

The whole family was into sports and they were working on encouraging young sportsmen to continue fulfilling their dreams related to sports, even though some obstacles might stand on their way.
Due to the fact that Connor’s generosity was so great and that he had many friends in the fencing world, they somehow wanted to continue the spirit of his whole family and persist in helping those who need financial support to develop further and reach success in the sports world.
Who's eligible?
There is certain criterion which has to be fulfilled so as to be eligible for the scholarship.
Actually, the applicants must be members of USA Fencing, they have to provide a letter of recommendation from either their coach, teacher or school administrator.
The grades would not be a determining factor, so it is not necessary to submit them, but the applicants will be asked to write an essay, 500 words long on the topic which is related to the moment you have encouraged a fencer either by your words or actions, just as Connor used to help young fencers grow in their careers.
For those people who are applying to an NCAA college or university it is important to check with the school’s Compliance Officer whether they can receive this scholarship.

The documentation should be attached and submitted by the April 30, 2024.
If you do not send it by that moment, you will not be considered for the Connor Porter Memorial Scholarship.
