David E. Ballard Living Legacy Scholarship

The David E. Ballard Living Legacy Scholarship was established in the memory of David E. Ballard, with the support of the Living Legacy Foundation.

Their aim was to financially support youth who have experienced homelessness or have been part of the foster care system pursuing a career in live entertainment.

Full Description

The money awarded will not be given to the winner, but will be paid directly to a qualified educational institution in two equal payments of $5000, for two academic semesters.

 

Who's eligible?

The applicants are first interested in the eligibility requirements when determining whether o apply for the award or not.

Those interested in the David E. Ballard Living Legacy Scholarship should meet the following criteria:

  • Applicant must be a full-time Junior or Senior at time of award, enrolled at an accredited college or university
  • Applicant must be pursuing a career in live entertainment, such as live event operations, production, music engineering, music business management, customer service, hospitality and/or other related fields
  • Applicants who have experienced homelessness within the last four years, and/or been part of the foster care system any time after the age of sixteen are eligible to apply
  • The applicant must be permanently residing in the U.S.
  • Applicant must have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher

How to Apply

Once you determined your eligibility, you should get acquainted with application guidelines as well.

Besides completing the Scholarship Application Form with accurate answers, the applicant is obliged to provide the following supporting documents:

  • a student copy of their college transcript to confirm GPA
  • proof of enrollment from the educational institution
  • two letters of recommendation from industry professionals and/or instructor(s)
  • Either proof of dependency letter or an independent Student Status Form completed by one of the following: school liaison, caseworker, social services provider, or campus financial aid administrator.
  • an essay on how your experiences with homelessness and/or foster care have shaped your goals related to pursuing a career in live entertainment.

If you happen to be the lucky recipient, you will be required to write a final impact essay at the end of the school year on how the funds supported your scholastic journey and progress towards your long-term career goals.
