This scholarship is created for people looking for a fresh start or have a desire to pursue their education but cannot do that due to financial struggles.
The scholarship award can be used for room and board, tuition fees and books, so you should know that funds will not be given to the recipient directly, but will be distributed to the school and split evenly between fall and spring semesters.
If you are a person who may not otherwise receive the scholarship based on academic achievement alone, you should apply for this award.
Who's eligible?
Each scholarship committee determines the eligibility criteria as not everyone can apply and be accepted as a future scholarship recipient.
The requirements for the Devante Stokes Scholarship are:
The eligible applicant is the one who is 25 years old or younger.
He/she must be a U.S. citizen and possess a High School diploma or GED.
Furthermore, he/she can be considered eligible if he/she is currently attending a 2 or 4-year college or trade school.
There is no minimum GPA required, however, the applicant has to be from a single-parent home.
If you consider yourself eligible, you are highly encouraged to apply and try your luck.
How to Apply
Applications will be accepted online from April 1st to April 30th.
Application forms should be filled out and submitted, and they will be available on the scholarship provider’s website once the application process starts.
If you happen to be the lucky recipient, you will be notified prior to June 1st via email about your award.
