Edward Hosharian Scholarship for Music Students of Armenian Descent is a non-profit organization which was created in honor of the late Maestro Edward Hosharian.
His aim during his life was to constantly promote music awareness and the organization wanted to continue this positive habit.
In order to show appreciation of music and get more people involved in this field, it provide assistance to students who study music, but have financial difficulties covering high educational expenses.
Full Description
Edward Hosharian Scholarship for Music Students of Armenian Descent is $5,000 and it will be awarded to the person with highest qualifications.
Payment will not be given to the recipient directly, but will be sent to the university or college in the name of the scholarship recipient.
Who's eligible?
The possible applicant should not apply for this scholarship if he/she does not meet the scholarship criteria.
He/she has to:
- be of Armenian descent,
- have financial need which can be proven
- be a full-time student at an Accredited 4-year College or University in the United States of America
- have a Sophomore status or above
- have a major in music performance or composition.
It is important to note that Community Colleges students are not eligible for this scholarship so they should not apply.
The application acceptance deadline is by February 1, 2024.
How to Apply
If you consider yourself appropriate and eligible for this scholarship, then you can start gathering all the documentation necessary for application.
The materials required for it, besides the filled out application form, which can be found on the official website of the organization, and where you will be asked to complete your personal statement, you will have to provide official transcripts which must be mailed directly by the institution as well as two letters of recommendation from instructors or advisors also mailed directly from them.

Also, you are supposed to send Performance majors, either a YouTube link or a self-made video or Composition majors, meaning to upload two scores of compositions.
