The First Responders Children’s Foundation – Victoria Ovis Memorial Scholarship offers the award amount of $2000 which will be sent directly to the office of the recipient’s school in two equal payments only upon official verification from the academic institution that the student has maintained the required GPA and is enrolled full-time for the spring semester.
Full Description
To receive the second award disbursement, the scholarship recipient must submit an official academic transcript no later than January 15th to the First Responders Children’s Foundation offices verifying GPA and the official proof of full-time enrollment for the current or upcoming semester.
Who's eligible?
First Responders Children’s Foundation – Victoria Ovis Memorial Scholarship committee has determined specific applicant guidelines that have to be followed if you want to be accepted as a possible scholarship winner.
The applicant must the child of a first responder (biological, adopted, or step-child) and it must have been conceived, adopted or listed as a dependent prior to the death or total and permanent disability of the eligible first responder.
Candidates must be pursuing their first Bachelor’s degree, Associate’s degree, or Certificate at any accredited college, university or technical/vocational institution in the United States that participates in the federal financial aid programs offered through the U.S. Department of Education.
The eligible candidate must be enrolled as a full-time student during the entire academic year and maintain a 2.7 out of a 4.0-grade point average.
Candidate must be making satisfactory academic progress toward the completion of their program and must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States.
Current First Responders Children’s Foundation officers and employees, and members of their immediate families are not eligible to apply.
How to Apply
Eligible candidates must submit the following items to apply:
- Completed scholarship application
- The official academic transcript which includes cumulative GPA
- Official proof of full-time enrollment
- Evidence of honors, leadership positions, volunteer activities, and other achievements
- Personal essay in which he/she will speak about personal and professional achievements and career goals
- Proof of US citizenship or permanent residency
- Letters of recommendation from three people and one reference should be from the related first responder’s employer
- A copy of the candidate’s completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- A copy of the candidate’s Student Aid Report (SAR)
- A copy of the candidate’s upcoming fall tuition bill and Financial Aid Award letter from the enrolled school.
