The amazing thing for young artists to know is that each year at Hope College there are up to sixty Distinguished Artist Award (DAA) scholarships given to students.
Those applicants who do not meet the criteria will be rejected, so they are suggested not to waste their time applying.
Full Description
Students who apply for these awards should know that the requirement is to have strong academic records and outstanding creative abilities in art, dance, music, theatre or creative writing.
Furthermore, the scholarships are renewable for four years, so the eligible students will get $2,500 each year if they maintain their excellent academic achievements.
You will have to maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 in case you get Presidential and higher awards or cumulative GPA of 2.75 for Distinguished Scholar Award and lower.
The award can be used toward their college costs.
Who's eligible?
If you are wondering whether you are eligible or not, you should have in mind that eligibility criteria for the Distinguished Scholar Award are at least a 3.5 GPA and a 27 ACT or 1260 SAT.
How to Apply
The application process consists of going to auditions which are open to all prospective Hope students.
It is minutes long and the pieces that you will present at the audition should be prepared in their entirety.
The instruments that you can play are piano, organ, strings, wind and percussion, or you can choose to sing or present your composition.
If you cannot attend the audition, you can apply for the scholarship by sending a recording before the deadline on February 12th.
The requirements are the same as if you were to attend the audition, but you will additionally have to print and fill out the printable pre-recorded audition form and make a recording of the highest possible audio quality.
