The Helen Brett Scholarship was established by Robert Kolinek, CEM, CMP, and named for his grandmother, Helen Brett, who was known as a pioneer in the trade show industry.
The scholarship has the aim to assist individuals who study the exhibition and event management and at the same time promote the exhibitions and events industry by attracting college level students into this field of study.

A selection committee’s job is to review and rate the applications and select the recipients who will be announced by 1 August.
The Scholarship includes up to $5,000 in tuition assistance and internship experience at Expo! Expo! IAEE’s Annual Meeting & Exhibition.
The number of awardees is determined each year.
The scholarship is awarded competitively.
The best of the best candidate will be determined based upon the pursuit of a degree major focusing on exhibition and/or event management and by the review of the submitted official transcripts.
Those individuals who are exploring the study of exhibition management with the desire to advancing their careers in this field will be given preference.
Who's eligible?
These are the requirements that each student has to meet so as to be able to get the IAEE Helen Brett Scholarship:
He/she must be a full-time student enrolled at an accredited college, university, junior or technical college in a degree program focusing on exhibition/event management
The applicant must show great education standing with a minimum of 3.0-grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
How to Apply
If you consider yourself eligible, you are supposed to complete the Helen Brett Scholarship Application available online and submit the following documents with it:
- Resume
- Two letters of recommendation by faculty and/or from an exhibition industry leader
- Official transcript
- One page essay which should be between 500 and 1,000 words on an explanation of your goals and desired roles in the exhibitions and events industry.
You have to accept to attend the Expo! Expo! in Louisville, Kentucky, on 8-10 December, if you are selected as a winner.
All documents must be received at the IAEE office by 1 June and you are supposed to submit the application and required materials to:
