The Rev. James B. Simpson scholarship is provided by the School of Communication (SOC) at American University.
The winners are supposed to direct the Simpson website whose database currently has almost 3,000 quotations.
Full Description
The scholarship winner must have a vision for a quotations project both in print and on the Web.
The recipient of this award must be enrolled as a full-time student in the corresponding master’s program.
School of Communication offers scholarships that allow the winners to gain professional experience while completing their graduate program.
If you happen to be the lucky recipient, your responsibilities would be to provide a quote each day, seven days a week, to monitor hosting and design of the site, and coordinate sharing quotes on social media.
Also, you will need to submit a final report in August.
Who's eligible?
So as to be able to get this award, the applicant must meet the eligibility requirements which include:
He/she has to apply and be accepted to the MA in Political Communication.
Then, he/she must be enrolled full-time (9 credits or more) and has U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status.
Furthermore, the applicant has to possess certain qualifications such as the understanding of the importance of quotations in contemporary communication, the ability to do the editing, writing, managing and updating the website.
If you do not meet the eligibility criteria or do not possess the required qualifications, you are suggested not to waste your time applying as your application will be rejected.
How to Apply
The award is amazing and everybody who meets the criteria is highly encouraged to apply for it.
What they need to do is to submit the following document by the deadline to Molly O’Rourke, Program Director for the Political Communication program.
They are supposed to write a brief statement in which they will speak about their qualifications for performing the work and any suggestions they have for improving the site.
This award may be renewed for a second year,
It is important to submit the application before the deadline on March 1st.
