The scholarship program is administered by International Scholarship and Tuition Services, Inc. and National FFA Staff provides oversight and approves all scholarships.

The Kenneth and Ellen Nielsen Cooperative Scholarship application process lasts until the application deadline on February 1st.

The selection results are usually announced in May and funds are given in August.

If there is a necessity of a college change, it can only be done before the application deadline.

Make sure to provide all the valid documentation in time.

Full Description

This scholarship is given in memory of the late Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Nielsen who devoted their lives to agriculture and were doing their best to get young people involved in this field.

Both of them were trying to improve economic conditions for farmers and ranchers.

The award granted is $1,000 for two recipients each.

Who's eligible?

The eligible applicants have to meet certain criteria and this includes being a high school senior pursuing a four-year degree in agriculture with a major in agronomy, crop science, animal nutrition, agricultural business/farm/livestock or ranch management, agricultural economics, agricultural journalism or international agriculture.

Furthermore, the eligible applicant or applicant’s parents/guardians must be members of an agricultural cooperative that is also a member of the Iowa Institute for Cooperatives.

This award is for FFA members pursuing four-year degrees in any area of agriculture and what is also important is that the eligible applicants must be members of a Farmland System cooperative or hold a direct livestock producer membership in Farmland.

How to Apply

The application process is very easy and everything you should have to submit is written on the official FFA website.

If you are less than 23 years of age, a current FFA member,  a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and are planning attending post secondary education in U.S. then you are encouraged to apply for this scholarship.

During the application process, you will be asked to insert your FFA ID number which every member possesses.

If you have difficulties with finding your FFA ID numebr, you can contact your FFA advisor.

Those who get the award will be notified, via email, the first week of May.
