The award is aimed at university students who are pursuing a bachelor’s degree in fields related to wastewater transport and treatment.

The fund noticed the importance of financially supporting these people and at the same time raising awareness of the significance of studying the fields such as Natural and Environmental Sciences, Biological Sciences, Agricultural and Civil engineering.

The NAWT William Hapchuk Memorial Scholarship Fund Application can be found on the scholarship provider’s website once the application process begins.

There is one lucky recipient each year who gets a $1500 award.

Who's eligible?

The committee has determined the  Hapchuk Scholarship Eligibility Requirements and each applicant needs to get familiar with them prior to applying and do not apply if he/she does not fulfill them all.

The applicant must be enrolled in an accredited university offering a bachelor degree in the following fields related to wastewater transport and treatment:

  • Natural and Environmental Sciences
  • Biological sciences
  • Agricultural and Civil engineering
  • Management/Business

Then, he/she must have completed at least one year of study and have attained a cumulative grade point average above the average for the university in which he/she is enrolled.

Last, but not least, the applicant needs to have an interest in a career related to the management of wastewater.

How to Apply

If you have determined your eligibility, you are encouraged to follow the application procedure and apply for the NAWT William Hapchuk Memorial Scholarship.

The application package consists of two letters of recommendation showing the names, position and contact information of two university professors, certified academic transcript(s) of all university-level institutions you have attended, your academic recognition and awards and Community Activities and Leadership.

What you will need to attach with the filled out application form is the personal statement which should be no more than 500 words long and in which you will be describing your career and personal goals with particular emphasis on wastewater treatment.

Make sure you know the application timeline, being that the deadline for submissions is January 15th and all documents must be received by then.

If you happen to be the recipient of the award, you will receive the scholarship  during  the WWETT Expo in Indianapolis during the NAWT Association Breakfast.
