The New York Women in Communications Scholarship is available thanks to the generosity of the sponsor which is New York Women in Communications Foundation.
It is the largest foundation for women’s communications scholarships in the U.S.
Each year, 15 to 20 scholarships are given to graduating high school seniors and undergraduate and graduate students who intend to pursue or further a career in communications.

The number of awards granted and the amount awarded is determined annually depending on the quality of applicants and the number of them.
It is good to get familiar with the application timeline.
The scholarship application is open from mid-November to the last Friday of January.
You should know that the deadline is January 26th, so as to provide all the required data by that moment, while the winners will be notified on April 1st.
Who's eligible?
Each interested student would like to know the eligibility requirements prior to applying for the award.
The scholarship is available only to those who meet the following criteria:
The applicant must be an undergraduate student or a graduate student and must be majoring in a communications-related field or be a high school senior intending to declare a major in a communications-related field.
She must attend a university or a four-year college and possess a minimum 3.0 GPA
The applicant must be a US resident, but the scholarship is restricted to residents of Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania.
To be considered for the award, the applicant must demonstrate:
- Leadership
- Service to others
- Proof of eligibility
- Financial need
- Academic achievement
How to Apply
Besides the eligibility requirements, there are some application Requirements as well.
The applicant has to pass and Interview and submit letters of recommendation, an essay, and a transcript.
Finalists will be required to attend an in-person interview in New York City in March.
The selection of the winners goes the following way.
Each completed application is assessed by 2 different readers and those students who pass to the 2nd stage receive telephone interviews.
If you pass the phone interview, you must attend an in-person interview in New York City.
The Finalists are chosen after the in-person interviews.
