The R.W. “Bob” Holden Scholarship is designed to support the leadership in the hotel industry and dedication to the education of those entering the industry as expressed by Bob Holden.
Students interested in applying should submit a written request for a scholarship application to the Hawai’i Hotel & Lodging Association offices starting February 1st.

The R.W. “Bob” Holden scholarship selection committee consists of the immediate past chairperson, current chairperson, chairperson elect, vice-chairperson, treasurer and president of the Hawai‘i Lodging & Tourism Association and other directors.
The award of $1000 will be given to the three most deserving students attending an accredited university or college in Hawaii, so if you find yourself eligible, do not waste your time, but apply for this amazing award.
Who's eligible?
What interested applicants would ask themselves when applying for the scholarship is whether they are eligible or not.
To be considered for the R.W. “Bob” Holden Scholarship, students must show the dedication and leadership potential to work toward the standards of excellence “Bob” Holden has set by his work.
The applicant must be a resident of Hawaii and a U. S. citizen.
He/she must be a junior or senior attending an accredited university or college and accepted in a hotel management program.
Furthermore, his/her academic achievements have to be great, with a minimum of 3.0 grade.
How to Apply
When the application requirements are in question, here are all the documents that you are supposed to submit.
The judges’ selection of scholarship recipients will be made on the basis of citizenship and leadership as demonstrated through activities and college performance.
The scholarship application has to be supported by the current official transcript, a letter of recommendation from a college professor, counselor or dean, an autobiography, and a career goals essay.
Additionally, you will need to provide proof of residency, meaning a copy of Hawaii state identification card or Hawaii state driver’s license and a photograph.
All these documents should be mailed no later than July 1st to:
