Scott-McKenna Memorial Scholarship is organized by Rocky Mountain Outdoor Writers & Photographers, Inc. and the acceptance of the applications is every spring.
It was named after J.B. Scott and Joe McKenna and was founded in their honor, due to the fact that they were the founders of RMOWP.

This organization has been awarding this scholarship since 2008 and it gives $2000 annually to a student who is interested in outdoors.
The subjects in which you might be interested in are birding, conservation, science, fishing, hunting, camping, backpacking, paddle and climbing sports.
The money is not paid to the recipient, but directly to the college and can be used for tuition and education fees.
Who's eligible?
The scholarship is designed for a student who is interested in pursuing the career in outdoors, meaning that they need to focus on the studies related to Natural Resources, Forestry, Rangeland Ecology, Wildlife Biology and Agriculture.
High school seniors are eligible and they need not have a declared major, but college students should have declared a major.
Furthermore, candidates who are pursuing photography or journalism majors, with a special interest in wildlife outdoor photography/journalism are also eligible.

This should be done before May 30th and the winner will be notified by June 10th.
During the application process, you will need to state your educational and professional goals, you will need to provide official transcript and the samples of photography and/or writing.
Your original writing or photography will greatly increase your chance of receiving this scholarship.
It is important to know that the application will not be accepted without the signature of a sponsor and it can be any person who is familiar with applicant’s writing and/or photography work.
The application will also require that you state 3 references whom they may contact and Your involvement into extracurricular activities.
The better position and requirements, the greater chances of winning the award.
