The scholarship is named in memory of J.B. Scott and Joe McKenna, who were the founders of RMOWP.
Rocky Mountain Outdoor Writers & Photographers, Inc. accepts applications for the Scott-McKenna Memorial Scholarship each Spring.
This organization has been awarding this scholarship since 2008 and it gives $2000 annually.
The eligible applicants for the Scott-McKenna Memorial Scholarship are students who are interested in pursuing the career in outdoors.
When we speak about a career in outdoors we need to say that this means that they need to focus on the studies related to Natural Resources, Forestry, Rangeland Ecology, Wildlife Biology and Agriculture.
Additionally, high school seniors are eligible and they need not have a declared major, but college students should have declared a major.
Also, the award is available to candidates who are pursuing photography or journalism majors, with a special interest in wildlife outdoor photography/journalism.

The application must be mailed before May 30th and the winner will be announced by June 10th.
What you will need to provide are the information related to your educational and professional goals, official transcript and the samples of photography and/or writing.
It is important to know that the application will not be accepted without the signature of a sponsor and that can be any person who is familiar with your writing and/or photography work.
The application procedure also requires that you include 3 references that the committee may contact and ask for information about you.
