Stephen & Jeanie Foster Vocal Auditions and Scholarship is one of the awards aimed at supporting young musicians who are trying to reach success in this demanding field.
Contestants must be sponsored by an FFMC Senior Federated Music Club and only advanced vocalists are acceptable.
It is a requirement that each female contestant must wear an 1850-1870 style ball gown using a hoop.
The winners may not enter future auditions.
Just as with any other scholarship, there are eligibility requirements that applicants have to meet in order to be considered for the Stephen Foster/Jeanie Scholarship.
If you are one of many interested applicants, you should know that so as to be accepted as a regular contestant, you must prepare two American art songs, one by Stephen Foster, and another by any American composer.
Then, you are required to attend the scholarship audition weekend in White Springs and perform at the final auditions.
The eligible candidates for these two contests are:
Jeanie Contest is open to females 17-22 years of age
Stephen contest is open to males 18-23 years of age.
For both contests, the applicants must be permanent Florida residents and an American citizen, either native-born or naturalized.
Proof of these eligibility requirements may be requested.
All Jeanie participants must have a third song by an American composer prepared to perform in the event if chosen as a winner, while the Stephen participants must be prepared to sing two verses of “I Dream of Jeanie” to the Jeanie winner as his third song.

The application must be completed with necessary documentation, photo(jpeg), and signature when electronically mailed.
A non-refundable entry fee of $75 must be mailed via US Postal Service or FedEx.
