At Financial Sumo they have heard too many stories about college students who were forced to take on enormous debt just so they could get the education they want.
Because Financial Sumo wanted to help, they’ve decided to develop a scholarship program which will help reduce the cost of attending college to a student who couldn’t afford it on their own.

Financial Sumo awards one $1,000 scholarship annually to a student who fulfills all of the rules required.
The deadline for submitting your essay is August 29, 2018
Don’t forget this scholarship is annual, so the winners are selected every year on September 1st. This year, next year’s winner will be announced on September 1, 2018.
The winner will be determined by their leadership team.
Who's eligible?
Any student who is currently attending an accredited college, or will be starting one in the Fall of 2018. There is no field of study requirement, all students regardless of their major are welcome to enter.
How to Apply
You should send a one-page essay answering one of these two questions:
- “What struggle have you overcome in your life that you are proud of?”
- “Financially speaking, what would this scholarship mean to you?”
It doesn’t matter what format you decide to use in your essay. It can be single or double space, contain only a few sentences or be a couple of pages long.
It doesn’t matter if it’s written as a Word or a Pages document, or even handwritten, there really are no rules. They care about what you’re writing about, not the format it’s in.
