The American Express Scholarship program is designed for current lodging employees and their dependents.

Since its foundation, the fund is proud to announce that it has awarded $382,610 in scholarships to 328 students and professionals.

Full Description

Nowadays, the American Express Foundation has aim to encourage and recognize academic excellence and help American Express employees fund their children’s undergraduate college education.

Usually, the amount awarded is $2,000 and the number of winners is determined annually depending on the number of eligible applicants.

Your task is to get familiar with application criteria and if you meet the requirements, you should submit the application and try your luck.

Who's eligible?

The American Express Scholarship committee has determined some eligibility requirements according to which the applicants are either qualified for the award or not.

The winner will be selected only if he/she meets all the requirements and proves that he/she is the best of the best among the applicants.

So as to be considered eligible, you must:

  • be an undergraduate student
  • attend a university, a four-year college or two-year college, either as a full-time or part-time student

The scholarship award is restricted to students studying Hospitality Management.

Besides being enrolled in hospitality management program at a U.S. college or university, applicants must either be working a minimum of 20 hours per week at an AH&LA member hotel with at least 12 months’ hotel experience, or be a dependent of a qualified employee, and have past employment in some capacity in the hospitality industry.

Only those applicants who meet all these requirements can become possible scholarship winners.
