The Edison International STEM Scholarship

The Edison International STEM Scholarship is available thanks to the generosity of Edison International which has awarded more than $9.9 million in scholarships to 640 students through the Edison Scholars program since its establishment in 2006 and is proud to be awarding deserving students with an amazing $5000 each year.

Full Description

The Edison Scholars Program has the goal to financially support students who want to become inventors by offering scholarships to help them follow their dreams in science, technology, engineering or math (STEM) and empower them to change the world.

The Edison International STEM Scholarship may be renewable based on available funding.

Who's eligible?

We have to offer you all the eligibility requirements that you must meet prior to applying for the award:

The applicant for the Edison International STEM Scholarship must be a high school senior with at least a cumulative 3.0 GPA, who is planning to pursue studies in the STEM fields at a four-year accredited college or university and who is able to show financial need.

Eligible STEM majors include computer and information systems, engineering, engineering technology, management information systems, mathematics, natural resources and conservation, and physical sciences.

Additionally, applicants must live in Southern California Edison’s service territory.

SCE’s service area includes 15 counties and those are Fresno, Kern, Madera, Riverside, Tuolumne, Imperial, Kings, Mono, San Bernardino, Tulare, Inyo, Los Angeles, Orange, Santa Barbara, and Ventura.

Dependents of Edison International and SCE employees and retirees are not eligible to apply for this award.

How to Apply

The scholarship committee will determine the top 50 finalists among all the application forms receive and those people will be required to submit a short video.

The application period for the Edison Scholars opens in fall and that is the moment when the fillable application form becomes available on the scholarship provider’s official website.

As a part of their application process, eligible applicants are required to submit a summary of their research interest and professional goal along with a description of their participation in faculty-mentored undergraduate research, or participation in STEM programs.

The deadline for the application submission is January 19th and winners are notified spring.
