The scholarship fund is established in honor of Ira Mitzner with the aim to enable a student, who demonstrates the same love and dedication to boxing as Ira, to pursue higher education.
Who's eligible?
The $10,000 Ira Mitzner Collegiate Boxing Scholarship is available to currently enrolled undergraduate students attending a four-year college or university, but who are competitive boxers for a United States Intercollegiate Boxing Association member club, as well as high school seniors accepted to a four year college or university, who will be competitive boxers in the United States Intercollegiate Boxing Association Championships and start a member club.
How to Apply
The application process for the Ira Mitzner Collegiate Boxing Scholarship is very easy and everybody will be able to apply for it if interested.
To be considered for the scholarship you are required not only to submit a completed application form with honest answers related to your personal and educational data, but also some additional and supporting documents, such as:
- Letter of recommendation from your current coach
- Copy of current transcripts
- Signed release form allowing us to contact your school
You are supposed to print out the Release Form, sign it , and scan it in as a pdf file, fill out the Application and save it as a pdf file, as well as get a copy of your latest school transcripts and scan them in as a pdf file.
You should know that financial need, GPA and a demonstrated commitment to academics will be considered in the selection process.
When it comes to the Coach’s Letter of Recommendation, you need to give the page included in the application form to the coach who will be writing your letter of recommendation and he/she has to include his/her contact information and boxing organization affiliation.
What you should do is to download application form and submit it by May 1 to scholarship@collegeboxing.org
The recipient of the scholarship will be announced on July 24th and the funds will be given on September 1st.
The award can be used only for the cost of tuition and it is paid directly to the recipient’s college or university.
