The Terry Freshman/Traditional Scholarship Program is designed for incoming freshmen who have graduated from a Texas high school and will attend one of the Terry-affiliated universities.

The amazing thing about this scholarship is that it will cover up to eight full semesters of undergraduate education, meaning that it is renewable annually during that time.

Terry Scholars are chosen due to the fact that they show a desire to succeed, and have a history of community leadership.

The scholarship money can be used to cover tuition, books, fees, and reasonable living expenses on campus.

Who's eligible?

The eligibility criteria are the following.

So as to be able to get the Terry Freshman Scholarship, you need to be a Texas high school senior who has been accepted for admission to one of the Terry-affiliated public universities in Texas and those universities are:

  • The University of Texas- Austin
  • Texas A&M University
  • University of Houston
  • Texas State University
  • The University of Texas- Dallas
  • The University of Texas- San Antonio
  • Texas Tech University
  • University of North Texas
  • Texas Woman’s University
  • Texas A&M University- Galveston
  • Sam Houston State University
  • The University of Texas- Arlington
  • The University of Texas- El Paso

Furthermore, you must demonstrate strong academic abilities, as evidenced by grades and SAT/ACT scores and have a record of leadership in school and in the community.

Being that scholarship is aimed at people with financial Need, you will have to prove it by the completion of the FAFSA.

Finally, the eligible applicant must be a U.S. citizen or a Permanent Resident and meet Texas residency requirements.

Candidates must also qualify for in-state tuition and for federal financial aid assistance.

You should know that applicants who have taken a gap year immediately following their graduation from high school are not eligible for consideration.

Applicants must apply and commit to residing on campus for the first year of school.

How to Apply

The applications for the Terry Transfer Scholarship are available only from the universities.

They are not available from the Foundation or from high schools, so you need to get it from there.

The Foundation encourages high school students to apply for the scholarship.
