UMSA Foundation scholarship program offers four $3,000 scholarships and eight $1,000 scholarships which are aimed at undergraduate or graduate programs in the fields of business continuity and disaster recovery, cybersecurity, governance, risk and compliance, and physical security.

Scholarship winners will be the most deserving of all applicants and will be selected for the award based on the following criteria:
- Applicant’s ability to align with UMSA’s goals, mission, and vision
- Quality of essay
- Personal goals
- Program of study relevant to at least one or more of the four fields
- Phone interview
If you happen to be the lucky recipient of the UMSA scholarship, you will be notified in April and will receive the award in May.
Who's eligible?
So as to be considered an appropriate candidate for the UMSA Foundation Scholarship, you will need to meet the scholarship eligibility requirements.
Applicants must be enrolled in a college or university for undergraduate and graduate students, or in a continuing education program.
However, not all fields of study are eligible.
They need to be enrolled in:
- Business continuity and disaster recovery
- Cybersecurity
- Governance, risk, and compliance
- Physical security
Furthermore, there is a residency requirement as well, and eligible applicants must be residents of the following upper Midwest states:
- Iowa
- Minnesota
- North Dakota
- South Dakota
- Wisconsin
If you are UMSA Foundation board members, UMSA board members, UMSA Foundation and/or UMSA committee members, and immediate family of these individuals, you are not eligible for the award.
Once you determine your eligibility, you are highly encouraged to apply and try your luck.
How to Apply
Online applications for the UMSA Foundation Scholarship will become available on the scholarship provider’s website once the application procedure begins.
It is very important that you follow the timeline and do not miss the deadline for the application submissions which is February 29.
Late and incomplete applications will not be accepted, besides the fact that the applicant meets the eligibility requirements.
The scholarship committee will make a selection of the finalist according to the application documents and make the final decision based on the applicant’s academic achievements, goals, and plans, as well as financial need.
