Women in Defense Michigan Scholarship program is designed to support high school women to pursue Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (S.T.E.M.) careers.
These careers should be related to the national security and defense interests of the United States, so the scholarship is available only to US citizens.

There will be one lucky recipient of the $2500 award, so make sure you submit all the documents by May 11th and try your luck.
Who's eligible?
Just like with any other scholarship there are eligibility requirements that have to be met prior to applying so as to be considered for the Women in Defense Michigan – STEM Scholarship.
These are the following:
The applicant must be a graduate or postgraduate student.
To apply, the female applicant must be a high school senior who is currently enrolled full time.
She must attend a university, a four-year college, two-year college or a vocational-tech school with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
The citizenship requirements are that the applicant has to be a female US citizen.
Furthermore, the scholarship is available to residents of Michigan and students studying in Michigan.
Those people who do not meet these requirements are suggested not to waste their time applying, as their application forms will be rejected.
How to Apply
If you have determined your eligibility, you would probably like to know how to apply.
This is what you will need to submit:
- a completed application form with accurate and honest answers related to your educational and personal details
- proof of U.S. Citizenship such as Birth Certificate or U.S. Passport
- official academic transcripts
- two recommendation letters
- an essay
- your financial need analysis, as this is a merit-based scholarship.
The submission has to be via mail and should include all the required documents, but the scholarship committee will also accept the “official” transcripts and letters of recommendation if they are mailed separately.
Unofficial transcripts will not be accepted.
Recipients will be notified directly in June.
